Thank you to Nancy Mohr and Tracy J. Behnken!

We would like to thank Nancy Mohr ’74 and Tracy J. Behnken ’82 for their many years of service on the Foundation’s Board of Directors! Both have spent the last decade on the board and have been monumental in helping the Foundation grow. We asked them to reflect on their time on the board below!

(Tracy J. Behnken)

What have you enjoyed the most about serving on the BPS Foundation Board?

It has truly been an honor to serve on the BPS Foundation Board over the past 11 years. Serving on the foundation has given me an opportunity to give back to the same school system that my father and I once attended and my sons currently attend. The most enjoyable part of serving has been getting to know others in our community and building relationships while supporting the same cause.

What are you most proud of helping the Foundation achieve during your time as a member?

During my time on the board, the foundation has grown tremendously. The All Star Kids program has grown from one school to four. The foundation has significantly increased the investment of programs such as the classroom grants and college scholarships. The Annual Gala Fundraiser was created as a way to give and to bring our community together for a great cause. However, all of this couldn’t be possible without our great staff. During my time, the foundation has hired an Executive Director and Public Relations and Fundraising Coordinator as well as upheld an excellent All Star Kids (after school program) staff. Much thanks needs to go to the staff for their work in growing a strong foundation.

What do you wish the community knew more about regarding the Foundation?

I think it is important for all of our community to learn more about the BPS foundation and how it positively impacts our district’s students. There are several ways to contribute to the mission of the BPS Foundation. To discover how you could be a greater part of our school and community, go to: https://benningtonschoolsfoundation.org/

What are you excited about for the future of Bennington Public Schools and the Foundation?

The Bennington Public Schools Foundation has made great strides since its beginnings in 1992. I am confident that the foundation will grow and be able to provide a variety of resources to the growing numbers of students in our district. The future of Bennington Public Schools and the Foundation are strong!

What have you enjoyed the most about serving on the BPS Foundation Board?

It is/was a way for me to keep involved with the school which has always been a big part of my life.  Attending school there, working there, and then retiring from there. It’s my way of giving back to the school that has given me and my family so much.

What are you most proud of helping the Foundation achieve during your time as a member?

I’m most proud of the scholarship program that we have developed over the years.  Helping students is very gratifying.

What do you wish the community knew more about regarding the Foundation?

I wish they knew more about all the good we do, all the students. Teachers and programs we help.  I think we are getting closer to that goal as we grow a little each year.

What are you excited about for the future of Bennington Public Schools and the Foundation?

As we continue to grow we will be able to help just that many more student, teachers, and programs. I am also excited about continuing to help with the alumni aspect of the Foundation in the future.
