Q&A With Lance Sindelar – ASK Program Director

How long have you been the All Star Kids Program Director?  I began working as the ASK Program Director in June of 2016.

Education: I received my Bachelor’s degree in General Studies from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 2009

What do you enjoy most about the program? Why should parents choose All Star Kids before and after school care? One of the best parts of my day is when I get to visit programs and interact with the students. Every student is unique and getting to know them as individuals is very fun. Students are always excited to see you and tell you about their day and their enthusiasm is infectious.

Parents should choose the ASK program because of the peace of mind that it provides. ASK offers an onsite program that meets all the standards and requirements of a state licensed facility. Staff are able to communicate with teachers on a student’s day to gain a better understanding of any obstacles they may be facing.

What’s one thing you wish people knew about the All Star Kids program? Parents should know that the tuition they pay for the program not only goes towards providing their children with a safe and supervised childcare option, but those tuition dollars also invest in their students with classroom grants, scholarship opportunities, and project funding.

Where did you work previously? What brought you to Bennington? I previously worked for Plattsmouth Community Schools as the Program Director for their POPS Place program and Blue Devil Academy. I had worked for Plattsmouth for about 2 years before deciding to pursue other opportunities with before and after school programs in the Omaha area. I had previously worked for the Kids Network Program through Millard Public Schools Foundation and the ASK Program shared many of the same ideals and policies that I enjoyed with the Kids Network program.

Favorite BPS Foundation Program (other than ASK)?  I am a firm believer that the Classroom Grants that the BPS Foundation funds are a fantastic way to enrich the learning in the student’s classroom. I have seen firsthand the engagement and excited the Classroom Grants provide for students and teachers that help explore a variety of learning opportunities for students.

Family members? My wife Kathryn and I have been married for 12 years and we have two children who attend Heritage Elementary. Cadence (4th) and Bennett (2nd).

Hobbies/interests outside of work! I enjoy college(Go Big Red) and professional football (Go Pack Go). I also enjoy any board and card games. I try to get out and play tennis when the weather cooperates.
