Students Creativity Glows at Stratford

Art at Stratford Elementary took on a whole new light—literally—thanks to art teacher Molly Fisher and a Classroom Grant awarded in Fall 2024. With glow-in-the-dark materials and black lights, Fisher transformed the school’s art program into an electrifying experience, culminating in a schoolwide Glow-in-the-Dark Art Show during parent-teacher conferences.

This hands-on, immersive project gave all K-5 students a chance to experiment with glow-in-the-dark oil pastels, paint, markers, and paper, encouraging creativity and exploration in new ways. Each grade level focused on different elements of art—line, shape, value, color, texture, space, and form—allowing students to build skills while expressing themselves in a vibrant, innovative setting.

“The Glow-in-the-Dark Art Show brought so much excitement to our students,” said Fisher. “Many of them increased their love of art and took great pride in what they created. It was amazing to see their faces light up—just like their artwork!”

Impact Highlights:

  • 376 K-5 students engaged in hands-on artistic exploration
  • Boosted creativity, confidence, and problem-solving skills
  • Created a memorable schoolwide art show for students and families
  • Encouraged experimentation with new art mediums in an exciting way
  • Provided reusable materials like black lights for future projects

“This project wouldn’t have been possible without the Foundation’s support,” Fisher shared. “The funding allowed us to create an experience that students will remember for a long time. Thank you for making it happen and for giving teachers the opportunity to bring ideas like this to life!”

With glowing reviews from students, parents, and staff, the Glow-in-the-Dark Art Show is set to become a bright tradition at Stratford Elementary.
