7 students from Bennington Middle School marked Bennington’s first ever participation in the 45th Metro Science & Engineering Fair – all earning top-3 placements.
Through the Foundation’s Project/One-Time Funding program, these young researchers used funds to print and purchase materials needed to display their final projects at a competitive level that set them up for success.
“Over the past 6 months, these students dedicated themselves to rigorous research, experimentation, and data analysis, all to create a final report and display to showcase their findings,” said Lindsey Wilson, Bennington Middle School 6th grade teacher, “I’m thrilled to share that all seven of our researchers were awarded a top 3 placement in their respective categories.”
Notably, two of the student researchers secured a position in the top 6 overall and will be representing Bennington at the state competition on April 18th in Lincoln, NE. All 7 students will be recognized for receiving an award on Tuesday, March 26th at Lauritzen Gardens where their projects will be on display again.
“Without the support of the Foundation, students would not have been able to compete at such a competitive level,” said Wilson, “This year marked Bennington's first ever participation in the 45-year history of the fair, and I can confidently say it will not be our last. Thank you for providing them with this incredible opportunity to showcase their talents, passion, and dedication to science and engineering.”
