BPS Foundation Awards Annual Scholarships
The Bennington Public Schools Foundation awarded 41 graduating seniors with scholarships in 2020. Ranging from $500 to $2,000, the 2020 Foundation scholarships totaled $46,000. Since 1998, the organization has given just over $400,000 in scholarships to Bennington students.
“We love recognizing these deserving seniors each year through our scholarship program,” said BPSF Executive Director Regina Meradith. “Although we missed presenting the scholarships at our Annual Awards Ceremony this year due to COVID-19, we ordered special yard signs to display at the high school to recognize all recipients.”
Bennington seniors planning to attend both two-year and four-year colleges are eligible to receive Foundation scholarships and are recognized for merit-based accomplishments including grade point average and ACT score. Students meetings certain requirements who work for the All Star Kids Program are also eligible to receive a $500 scholarship.
The Lee and Kathy Bunz Endowed Scholarship Fund also provided a $1,500 scholarship for the second year. The family set up an endowed scholarship fund in 2018 to recognize students who display strong character while excelling in academics and activities, while making a positive impact on the community.
“It’s exciting to see our scholarship program continue to grow with our increasing class sizes and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for our 2020 graduates,” Meradith said.
The 2020 Foundation scholarship recipients include:
Bunz Family Scholarship ($1,500)
Foundation Career ($500)
All Star Kids Employee ($500)
